I know you probably think it's in the final stretch when it has finally reached a mitigation department of your lender's loss … but although it may conclude, finally, getting past the customer service "guards" Unfortunately, the trip has really started.
Once you begin the process of modification loan application, your lender will most likely want you to complete lots of paperwork, as part of the process of applying for a loan modification. A document almost all the lenders are asking for is a "letter of hardship," which details their economic circumstances, the reasons for those needing a loan modification, and any other information relevant to your request for loan modification.
So what should go on a letter difficulties? What to leave out? Although there is no magic formula for writing a letter of great difficulties, there are some things you should be aware of the time develop your letter to help increase your chances of success.
1) Remember your audience: Your letter will be read by one of a ton of "specialists in mitigating losses "that have the mind-numbing job of reading countless letters of the thousands and thousands of people just like you who are trapped in this financial disaster. Put yourself in their shoes and think what you would like to view. Some of the important things here are to be courteous, professional and detailed, but also … to-the-point. One or a maximum two-page letter should be sufficient to describe their situation.
It goes without saying that the copy of a letter the difficulties of the Internet (or any other source) is a bad idea: Although you can get ideas from other people's letters, remember that the person reading your letter probably been seen all the letters from the "popular" that are passed around the web. In short, make your letter specific to your situation.
2) Include details Important: Your lender may have a specific set of issues that wish to cover, so be sure to carefully read your list and include all the details they want. It may also be a good idea to include the following:
– The number of loan
– Specific reason (s) for their hardship, such as ARM reset, unemployment, sickness, death of spouse or co-debtor, job relocation, business failure, military service, medical bills, divorce, imprisonment, marital separation.
– Your current payment status, and how many months behind (or if you're about to fall behind)
– For ARM reset, your previous payment amount and the amount of your payment.
3) Leave the emotion: I know it can be very difficult to do, but it is important that your letter be emotionally neutral. This can take some real effort, and may require that you "dropped the letter and return to a pair times. Remember that if you "turn off" the reader can do real harm to their chances … so try hard to find in your writing so calm and serene, but seriously.
4) While it may sometimes be difficult to be polite, be sure to thank the reader for taking the time to review the circumstances. Also include contact information for you and / or your spouse, such as phone number, email, etc. While one might think that lenders already have this information, it does not hurt to make sure the front of them again.
